Rehabilitation of the Shkumbin river embankment

Object: Rehabilitation of the Shkumbin river embankment, segment Gosë – Ballaj, Kavaja area

The project is all based on the rehabilitation of the existing embankment. The solution of the flood problems for the study area is realized through the embankment of the Shkumbin River through a longitudinal embankment along its entire length.

The first phase of the investment has foreseen the intervention only for the segment Prog.O-Prog.4142ml identified as a problematic and emergency area. Part of the project is the tuning of the existing crossing ramps as a result of the overgrowth of the existing embankment.

It is worth noting that the embankment of the Shkumbin River is limited on both sides, to the right of the flow from the Cistern Irrigation Canal and to the left of the flow from the Vehicle Crossing. For its rehabilitation, neither of these two engineering structures should be damaged, therefore, in the segments where the realization of embankment slopes is impossible, their support in retaining walls are foreseen. The slopes of the new embankment are 1: 2 and only in the places defined in the transverse profiles will be used the slopes from 1: 1.5 to 1: 2
